The Sarah L. Rector Memorial Scholarship Fund will be provided to a student each year who best embodies the spirit of Sarah Rector. Sarah was a member of the CU Law Entrepreneurial Law Clinic (the ELC), and special consideration will be given to students who participate in this program.
A 2010 Colorado Law alumna, Sarah represented the best of the ELC: a high functioning, thoughtful individual who consistently left things better than she found them. Sarah’s clients, fellow student attorneys, and supervisors each admired her dedication and upbeat demeanor. After graduating, Sarah clerked and then landed a job with Cooley where she began her legal career. Shortly thereafter, following a brief illness, Sarah passed away in March 2013.
To honor her memory, Sarah’s surviving family and Cooley joined together and donated generous funds to establish a memorial scholarship in her name. Beginning in 2014, Colorado Law will award a scholarship to a student who embodies Sarah’s spirit and participates in the school’s entrepreneurship program.
The Entrepreneurial Law Clinic now annually serves approximately 25 clients. Moreover, it provides students practical and meaningful experience in transactional law.
